WHAT IS 5-STAND?
5-Stand
is an abbreviated form of Sporting Clays, providing the same types of target
presentations but without the walk. 5-Stand began as a warm up for
Sporting Clays shooters and has grown into a
challenging and fun game unto itself.
Up
to 5 shooters can make up a five stand squad. Each shooter will occupy a
shooting position and shoot at a combination of five targets; a Single, Report
Pair (second bird is thrown after the sound of the gun report from shooting at
the first bird) and True Pair (both birds are thrown at the same time).
Once the first shooter has shot at the five birds, the shooter in the adjoining
station is presented with a different combination of five birds. Once all
five shooters have shot from their beginning station, each rotates to the
adjoining station for another 5 target presentations. This will continue
until each shooter has shot 5 birds from each of the 5 stations.
With several different machines and a slightly different angle on each target
depending upon the station, there are over 200 possible target
presentations! This is truly a game that will provide continuing
enjoyment and increase your clay shooting skills!
Each squad of 5-Stand shooters will have a Range Officer who will explain the
course, throw the targets for you and ensure your comfort and safety.
A round of 5 Stand consists of 25 birds.
SAFETY AND RANGE RULES
Know
and obey club rules and detailed in the Range Rules booklet. All guns
must be treated as if they are loaded. Keep muzzles pointed safely downrange at
all times and keep your finger off the trigger. Make sure of your target and
what is beyond it before firing.
Guns may only be loaded once the shooter is in the shooting stand, and any
unfired rounds must be unloaded from the gun prior to leaving the stand. When
not in the firing stand, the action of your gun must be open.
Guns are limited to 2 rounds at a time. Shot size is limited to #7 ½ and
smaller. Any gauge shotgun may be used to shoot as long as your gun is fired
from the shoulder.
Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
Listen to the Range Officer; s/he will enforce all firearms handling and range
safety rules.
